Preview / Release |
As content updates are made using the SMC tools, they are tracked and the database is updated. These updates, however, cannot be accessed on the live site until you publish them using the Release function. This allows SMC users and admins to proof updates and additions before they are published into static HTML pages for the world to see.
There are several other advantages to the Preview and Release feature that you may not have thought of.
1.) Faster Page Load Times - Static pages do not query a database and can therefore be cached.
2.) Content Moderation - Configure to allow content providers to update content, but only Admin level users can Release.
3.) Site Indexing - Can offer keyword search on site since stactic HTML pages can be indexed (Google, HTdig, etc.).
4.) Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - Search engine web crawlers cannot index a database like they can a static page. |
